DESA ALAM INDAH
Desa Alam Indah (translation: Beautiful Natural Village) is the result when ecologically-minded people come together with the purpose of creating inspiring, beautiful and earth-friendly homes. The village, which includes 11 natural and hand-made homes and wonderful communal areas, was built by MUD Sustainable Homes.
Communal living
At the heart of Desa Alam Indah is the ethos of creating homes and communities that are ecologically conscious. Communal living is a big part of that by way of sharing talents and resources. Communal spaces and resources include:

Village rainwater collection and groundwater replenishment
-
Recycling services
-
Composting
-
Laundry facilities
-
Food gardens
-
Security and management
-
Lap pool and kid’s pool
-
Car and scooter parking
-
Community club house

The land
In late 2016, a group of ecologically-minded Bali expatriates got together to build the first communal eco-village by MUD Sustainable Homes. After the arduous process of searching for the right place to build a community, we settled on a quiet plot of land in Penestanan surrounded by working rice fields, jungle, two streams and a holy water temple. The land was offered by the banjar (village community) to support the local temple.
